Мы публикуем работы двух жанров: документация и описание языка.
Документация языка
В этом разделе мы публикуем статьи, в которых авторы:
- дают обзор прошедшей экспедиции, собранного материала и предварительных результатов;
- делятся своим опытом работы с носителями (как их искали, как устанавливали контакт, какие при этом были сложности);
- рассказывают о своем представлении об организации работы экспедиции (каким образом отбирались участники, как была организована работа в поле);
- рассказывают о том, каким образом организована работа с материалом (каким образом хранится материал; какие теоретические подходы использовались для изучения той или иной темы; каким образом авторы делятся своими материалами с научным и с языковым сообществом);
- рассказывают о том, как они создают корпуса и коллекции глоссированных текстов;
- приводят образец транскрибированного и глоссированного текста.

Описание языка
У каждого исследователя в ходе полевой работы всплывают небольшие сюжеты, которые в итоге так и остаются заметками на полях тетрадей, в вордовских документах с пометой “как-нибудь посмотреть” или в виде рассказов друзьям за чаем или другим напитком. До публикации такие сюжеты часто не доходят по разным причинам. Во-первых, сюжет может быть слишком коротким для полноценной статьи. Например, если вдруг удалось выяснить значение какого-нибудь слова, не зафиксированного в существующих словарях, и вы готовы написать об этом короткую заметку на пару страниц, но никак не большую подробную статью на 1-2 авторских листа. Во-вторых, это могут быть языковые явления, которые вы случайно подметили и которые еще требуют серьезного исследования и осмысления, но так и остаются заброшенными. Например, это может быть необычная модель согласования у очень ограниченного класса слов или новый суффикс (но может, это и обычная модель и не самостоятельный суффикс - надо изучать). Описание этих явлений не входит в ядро грамматического описания, но представляет научный интерес.

Journal of the Field Linguists Society
We would like to know what you do in the field!
The Journal of Field Linguistics was conceived as a platform to publish relatively small papers on topics that emerge during field work but would need to be expanded or further investigated to be published in mainstream linguistic journals.
As field linguists, we know that dozens of interesting observations from the field are destined to remain hidden in a pile of notes until the researcher finds time to properly investigate the topic. This time might never come, and the topic will be forgotten. That is why we decided to create a space where such ideas can be collected and shared with colleagues.
We welcome submissions in two broad categories: language documentation and language description.
Language documentation covers practical aspects of doing fieldwork, including:
- field work reports (collected material, topics studied, preliminary results)
- experiences working with speakers (finding consultants and working with them, possible difficulties encountered)
- the organization of work in the field (how were participants selected, how was the work with consultants organized)
- archiving data on site (how was the material archived, how was it annotated, was it made available to other linguists/scientists and speakers, and if so, how?)
- creating corpora and collections of glossed texts
- examples of transcribed and glossed texts
- ethical issues (regarding fieldwork, or linguistics/science more broadly)
- fictional work inspired by field work
Language description includes topics that might be of interest to other linguists, but do not provide enough material for a “full” publication:
- discussion of descriptive data on a small topic
- comparison of field data with older descriptions, reflections on the methodology of your predecessors
- discussion of negative data (e.g., a phenomenon you studied in the field turned out to be non-existent, or something else from what you expected)
- reviews and fact-checking of linguistic sources, including books, chapters or sections of books, articles, databases, etc., regardless of whether they are old or new
- discussion of theoretical approaches or methodologies applied in the field; their merits and drawbacks
Submitting to the journal
Send your manuscripts (anonymized, in PDF format) to oplingvi@gmail.com, with “Journal of Field Linguistics [Title of your paper]” in the subject line and your name and affiliation in the body of the email.
You will receive a decision after peer review within 8 weeks.
Recommended size is around 2 pages or ~1000 words, but we do not have rigid limitations.
We accept papers in any natural language. Note, however, that if the language is outside of the competence of any of the editors, it might take a little bit longer to find a reviewer.

Please gloss your examples according to the Leipzig glossing rules.
